Contributing to the development of culture and performance

  • In the absence of any formal training available, Nanzikambe develops talent by carrying out actor training in performance, styles, script-writing and theatre making.

    In the absence of state funded theatreprojects, Nanzikambe has beenamongst the first theatre institutions to successfully encourage commercial sponsorship and support of theatre.

  • Nanzikambe also works with the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture to strengthen capacity within the theatre industry.

  • Setting industry standards for performance artists in relation to pay, working conditions and contracts.

  • Creating Artistic and Cultural exchange between Malawi and Europe.

  • Developing creative links with regional countries - through collaborative projects with groups from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana.

    Developing an International profile and standard of performance for Malawi’s talent. In 2006 alone, Nanzikambe toured to Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, appeared at the Grahamstown Festival, South Africa, the International Ibsen Festival in Oslo, and the International Workshop Festival in London.
